Summer is drawing to
its end. We're about to have fall any
minute.
This is a view looking north up the bluff on a crisp morning.
The sun is warm, and the air is cool.
Joanna and I are dressed to visit
the superyacht, Timoneer. Joanna

In early August the family took a
trip to Kodiak on the ferry
Tustemena. We
spotted several pods of whales. It's like another world.
The
next weekend we hiked Kachemak Bay State Park from the Glacier Spit
Trailhead to Grewink Glacier Lake and
then left by way of the Saddle Trail. To get there and back we
rode on Mako's Water Taxi.
A view from across the bay taken
near sunset.

The view as you approach the lake makes you think a unicorn is going to
hop out of the trees. Or something. - Jessica
Rocks growing each step
Slowing our journey's arrival
Stay for a brief look
Grewink
Glacier Lake is incredibly wild. We picked up wind-blown ice
from the shore and brought it back home. It makes great ice for drinks.
Mmmm.
Sun rays dancing cold
Ice water laughs at our toes
Tasting ancient snow

Jessica and Joanna hiked the saddle trail in August of '06.
Wind and water trip
A sunshine blessed journey
Delicious berries
In
the spring of '06, the kids found out about Mentos and 2-liter
Diet Coke. We photographed the fun.
